1. Who we are

Apli helps South African university students find and apply for bursaries they qualify for. In this policy, "Apli", "we" and "us" refer to Apli as the responsible party for the personal information described below. You can reach us at hello@aplinow.com.

2. Information we collect

We only collect what we need for the purpose at hand.

•Information you give us. When you complete a form on this site, we collect your name, email address, the capacity you are writing in, your institution or organisation where you provide it, and the content of your message.

•Technical information. Standard server and browser information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected automatically when you use the site.

This website does not collect academic records, identity documents or financial information. Where the Apli platform itself collects that information in future, it will be governed by a separate platform privacy notice presented to you at the point of sign up.

3. Why we process it

•To respond to your enquiry and continue the correspondence you started.

•To keep you informed about Apli's availability at your institution, where you have asked us to.

•To understand which institutions and sponsors we are hearing from, so we can prioritise our rollout.

•To keep the site secure and functioning, and to comply with our legal obligations.

We rely on your consent when you submit a form, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. You may withdraw consent at any time.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with sponsors, funders or universities for marketing purposes.

We share information only with service providers who help us run this site, such as our website host and form processing provider, and then only to the extent they need it to provide that service. Some of these providers process information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information receives a comparable level of protection.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to keep it by law.

6. How we protect it

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to submitted enquiries is limited to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

•Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy of it.

•Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, or complete information that is incomplete.

•Ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.

•Object to our processing of your information, and withdraw any consent you have given.

•Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

8. Children and young people

Apli is intended for prospective and current university students. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian before sending us your personal information.

9. Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our host may set cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work and to keep it secure. If we introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear on this page.
